Agility and efficiency go hand in hand, as demonstrated by the latest petrol engines of the C-Class Coupé. Both the 4-cylinder models and the V6 engine stand for a high level of refinement combined with low fuel consumption thanks to innovative BlueEFFICIENCY technologies.

4-cylinder petrol engines The C-Class Estate owes its high efficiency to its latest generation 4-cylinder engines with direct petrol injection. A systematic approach to the development objective - increased output yet reduced consumption - was pursued; and thanks to the BlueEFFICIENCY concept, fuel consumption has been reduced to a very low level. This is also evident in the C 180, which combines measures such a direct petrol injection with piezo injectors, reduced engine weight and demand-based accessories – for example, in the form of the also new electro-mechanical steering system – in particularly efficient fashion. The following models are available to choose from: C 180, C 200, C 250 and C 250 Sport. High effectiveness and efficient fuel consumption levels: thanks to an exhaust gas turbocharger and variable valve timing. Fuel is consumed particularly efficiently. High performance potential: result of the homogeneous direct petrol injection and the increased compression. Environmentally compatible: the engines comply with the more rigorous consumption and emission standards (Euro 5) while offering at the same time top torque, output and noise levels. A high level of refinement: two balancer shafts reduce bothersome vibrations. Easy on the environment: the ECO start/stop function switches the engine off temporarily when the vehicle is stationary, thus saving fuel. In addition, the ECO display in the instrument cluster, which is available for numerous models, provides information about how efficient the driver's driving style is, inspiring them to modify their behaviour and thereby reducing fuel consumption.
6-cylinder petrol engine Economical, clean and high-torque: the 6-cylinder petrol engine in the C 350 is the embodiment of a technological generational change - towards sustainable drive concepts. The engine boasts impressive performance figures. With a combined fuel consumption of 7.0-6.8 l/100 km, the engine reaches a maximum power output of 225 kW and can accelerate the C-Class Coupé from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.0 seconds. The peak torque of 370 Newton metres is available over a particularly wide engine speed range, so that impressive reserves of power are available in any driving situation, yet with low emission levels. Precise fuel utilisation and low fuel consumption thanks to the standard-specification ECO start/stop function and ECO display in the instrument cluster. Continuously variable camshaft adjustment and third-generation direct petrol injection use stratified combustion and piezo injectors to ensure that fuel consumption remains low.
8-cylinder petrol engine A high-revving naturally aspirated engine with thoroughbred motor-racing technology: the AMG V8 naturally aspirated engine in the C 63 AMG displays an impressive range of technological highlights. As a result the engine can deliver strong output figures. With an output of 336 kW and a peak torque of 600 Newton-metres, the C 63 AMG can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.4 seconds (the C 63 AMG special model Edition 507 can do this in 4.2 seconds thanks to its output of 373 kW and up to 610 Nm of torque). At the same time combined fuel consumption and CO2 emissions figures of 12.0 litres/100 kilometres and 280 grammes/kilometre are at a low level in light of the outstanding dynamic handling. Optimum charging: use of the eight cylinders is optimised via the vertical arrangement of the intake and exhaust ducts as well as the magnesium variable-intake manifold with two integrated throttle valves. High-tech as standard: variable camshaft adjustment, 4 valves per cylinder, the stiff aluminium crankcase and the low-friction TWAS (twin-wire-arc-spraying) coating used for the cylinder walls.
