The intelligent combination of various safety features is a factor in effectively protecting the vehicle against break-ins, theft and towing. The alarm is triggered, for example, in the event of unauthorised intrusion or short-circuiting of the ignition lock.

The alarm also sounds if the ignition lock is shorted/removed or the foot brake applied. The tow-away protection function responds to a change in the position of the vehicle and can be deactivated – for example, if the car is being towed or loaded onto another vehicle.

This combination of complementary safety and assistance systems helps to relieve driver stress, reduces the risk of accidents and improves protection for both the occupants and other road users.

The Dynamic Handling package enhances agility, ride comfort and straight-line stability thanks to the 15-mm lowering of the sports suspension, the speed-sensitive sports steering with more direct steering ratio and the adaptive damping system.

The damping system has two basic settings. The change between the comfortable setting and the sports mode is made by pressing the SPORT button. In addition, pressing the E/S button can enhance the gearshift performance of the transmission: In the S program all the parameters are adjusted to ensure the best possible acceleration and rapid reaction times.

Both in the Sports mode and in the Comfort mode, the damping forces for each individual wheel are adapted automatically and steplessly to the momentary handling situation. The lowered ride height reduces rolling movements. The suspension is complemented by the more direct ratio of the speed-sensitive sports steering system, which ensures a significantly snappier transfer of the steering movements to the road.

The Interior Lighting package provides you with a better overview inside and around the vehicle with a variety of intelligently arranged light units. It includes courtesy lights in the exterior mirrors, illuminated front footwells, illuminated interior handles, illuminated door pockets, courtesy lights in doors and illuminated vent control wheels.

If the vehicle is used be several persons, the Memory package offers a particular operating comfort. Up to three different positions for the power front seats, steering column and exterior mirrors can be stored at the touch of a button and retrieved.

The memory programming covers all seat setting options, such as fore-and-aft position, angle and height of the seat and the head restraint, the angle and depth of the seat cushion, the inclination of the seat backrest and the height of the head restraint. Operation is intuitive using ergonomic switches in the door control panels.

Both exterior mirrors can be power-adjusted and -folded at the push of a button to protect the mirror housing against damages, for instance during parking. For improved vision and visibility the exterior mirror on the driver's side and the interior mirror automatically dim continuously.

The combination of Blind Spot Assist and Lane Keeping Assist bears a two-fold safety benefit. The systems can warn drivers visually and audibly of vehicles in the blind spot and use pulsating steering-wheel vibrations to indicate inadvertent lane departures.

The Blind Spot Assist system with radar sensors makes one of the major hazards in traffic visible. If a vehicle is detected in the blind spot, a red triangle appears in the exterior mirror. Should the driver fail to notice the visual clue and activate the turn indicator, the system issues an additional audible warning. The system is active at speeds between 30 and 250 km/h.

The system can recognise inadvertent lane departures at speeds between 60 and 200 km/h and can warn the driver by means of steering-wheel vibrations.The system processes the images provided by a camera placed behind the windscreen. Lane markings are registered thanks to differences in contrast. From these data and the actions of the driver that have been registered , the Lane Keeping system determines whether the vehicle is leaving the lane it is travelling in intentionally or not. Thanks to the lowering of the chassis by 15 millimetres, the stiffer suspension and damper setting as well as a stronger anti-roll support, the sports suspension supports a dynamic style of driving. When the high beams are activated, Adaptive Highbeam Assist always provides the optimum headlamp range and prevents dazzling oncoming traffic. The driver hardly has to operate the high-beam switch any longer and is able to better focus on the driving tasks.

The system detects child seats with a transponder from the Mercedes-Benz accessories range and automatically deactivates the front passenger airbag. This way small children are protected from injuries by the front-passenger airbag deploying. This eliminates the need for permanent deactivation at the workshop, which is thus not necessary.

The fire extinguisher is mounted easily accessible at the front of the driver's seat.

For the best possible visibility on country roads and motorways, on bends and in foggy conditions, the Intelligent Light System with adaptive bi-xenon headlamps automatically adapts to the weather, lighting and driving conditions .

On country roads the left-hand side road edge is significantly better illuminated, in particular when the foglamps are switched on, on the motorway the range of visibility is increased by up to 60 percent. The extended fog lamp function prevents dazzling of the vehicle's driver due to light reflected by the fog.

The Active Light system enhances safety in curves and when cornering at crossings by producing a better lateral illumination and a high lighting range. The headlamp cleaning system contributes towards improving visibility and consequently enhanced safety.

The system conveniently opens, starts and locks the vehicle – just by carrying the electronic key.

All the doors can be opened and locked by touching the door handle, without even having to hold the car key. And the engine can be started and stopped by simply pressing the Start-Stop ignition button.

The LED daytime running lamps ensure better and swifter visibility of the vehicle in the daytime. The LED daytime running lamps are brighter than the side lights and consume far less energy than the low-beam headlamps. At the same time they create an even more striking design.

Should you get a flat tyre, the damaged wheel can be replaced by a Minispare wheel. Even if tyre damage is so serious that it cannot be rectified with TIREFIT tyre sealant, you will soon be on the move again. The emergency spare is located in the boot recess.

This system helps the driver to search for a parking space as well as parking in a parallel parking space. It provides the driver with steering recommendations in the instrument cluster. PARKTRONIC monitors the front and rear of the vehicle when manoeuvring and warns the driver if a potential collision is detected.

Parking Guidance is automatically active at forward speeds of up to 30 km/h. If the vehicle is moving at a speed lower than 30 km/h, the system automatically seeks out and measures parking spaces on either side of the vehicle. The presence of an adequate parking space is indicated by means of a blue "P".

As standard, Parking Guidance only reports parking spaces that have been found on the front-passenger side. If the left-hand turn indicator has been actuated, the system also reports parking spaces on the driver's side. The presence of a parking space is indicated by means of an arrow pointing left or right appearing in the multifunction display of the instrument cluster.

If the driver engages reverse and confirms the activation message in the instrument cluster, the Parking Guidance function is activated with visual steering indications and a signal sound. It indicates when a stopping position has been reached. If it is necessary to reverse and drive forwards a number of times, the driver is requested to drive forwards or reverse each time as required.

The PARKTRONIC parking aid function monitors the front and rear of the vehicle when manoeuvring and warns the driver if a potential collision is detected. .It is permanently active up to a speed of 18 km/h independently of whether Parking Guidance is being used or not.

The system is able to identify critical handling situations in advance and initiate preventive measures for occupant protection in the event of an impending accident. These include e.g. the reversible belt tensioning or the automatic closing of any open windows.

PRE-SAFE® evaluates sensor data from other systems, such as the Electronic Stability Program ESP® and Brake Assist system BAS, and can identify scenarios such as heavy over/understeer and emergency braking.

If a typically critical handling situation is identified by the system, the belt tensioners are activated at lightning speed, the electrically adjustable front passenger seat (only in conjunction with the Memory package) is moved to a more "favourable" crash position, and the power windows and (optional) panoramic sliding sunroof are closed automatically.

Run-flat tyres do not to need to be changed immediately in the event of a puncture. It is possible to drive on without a major loss in comfort – for up to 80 kilometres at a top speed of 80 km/h, depending on the load.

This enables the driver to manoeuvre the vehicle out of the danger zone, such as for instance a tunnel or a bridge, and in most cases drive on to the nearest workshop. The tyre wall is made of two layers. Apart from the stiff load-bearing layer there is an additional soft layer which enhances comfort under the conditions of a normal drive. Tyres with run-flat characteristics are available for Mercedes-Benz wheels of the corresponding size, including for accessories wheels.

Reverse parking and manoeuvring is considerably easier and safer using the rear-view camera. It is activated automatically when reverse gear is engaged and shows the area behind the vehicle (with dynamic guidance lines) on the central display.

The chest of the rear-seat passengers is protected by the sidebags in a side-on collision. They are integrated in the rear side panelling and deploy at chest height between the side of the vehicle and the occupants.

They are triggered when the central control unit and the side satellite sensors register acceleration or deceleration forces acting on the vehicle in excess of a certain threshold. The sidebags deploy at chest height between the vehicle side and the occupant.

Inattention and fatigue can result in you drifting out of your lane without realising it. The system can recognise inadvertent lane departures and can warn the driver with pulsating steering-wheel vibrations.

If the driver for instance actuates the turn indicator, accelerates vigorously or cuts a tight corner, the intervention can be suppressed from the outset. The system operates in the speed range from 60 to 200 km/h and in the instrument cluster via the "Assistance systems" menu it can be activated/deactivated and adjusted in terms of sensitivity (Standard / Adaptive).

The system visualizes one of the major hazards in traffic. If a vehicle is detected in the blind spot, a red triangle appears in the exterior mirror. Should the driver fail to notice the visual clue and activate the turn indicator, the system issues an additional audible warning.

The Blind Spot Assist system is active at speeds between 30 and 250 km/h. Below 30 km/h a yellow triangle indicates that the system is inactive. Blind Spot Assist can be activated and deactivated via the "Assistance systems" menu in the instrument cluster.

For drivers with an affinity for motor racing and technology the new AMG Performance media information system registers and visualises vehicle-specific data as well as racetrack information. The data can be stored and exported for subsequent analysis.

The system provides the option of downloading apps and adjusting vehicle settings. All information is shown on the COMAND display and the functions are accessed via the COMAND controller.

This compact navigation module transforms the Audio 20 CD into full-fledged navigation system with intuitive operation. The Becker® MAP PILOT plugs in inconspicuously in the glove compartment and can be removed at any time.

COMAND Online is equipped with a hard-drive-based navigation system with map display and internet browser. It has a colour display with 17.8-cm screen and provides a central control interface for all telematics components.

An auxiliary aerial and a digital receiver allow listening to terrestrial broadcasts of digital radio stations. DAB digital radio offers excellent reception quality and valuable additional information about e.g. traffic or the radio programme.

Because there is not blanket coverage of digital broadcasts yet, the digital DAB radio switches automatically from digital to analogue reception and vice-versa depending on signal strength. It is also possible to switch between digital and analogue mode manually.

With twelve speakers including a subwoofer, a 9-channel DSP amplifier and an output of 450 watts the Harman Kardon® Logic 7® surround sound system in conjunction with audio devices provides a perfect listening experience in stereo as well as in the DTS and Dolby Digital-5.1 formats.

Twelve high-performance loudspeakers and the Logic 7® multi-channel, surround-sound technology help create a three-dimensional music experience in all seats. The automatic volume control adapts the sound in line with the car’s current speed.

A universal interface in the armrest lets you connect mobile phones conveniently to the vehicle's speaker phone. To do so, just insert the mobile phone into the a phone cradle (accessory) matching the device.

Convenience Telephony provides excellent reception and transmission of phone signals by using the vehicle's exterior aerial. You can also use the charging function to charge your mobile phone. The functions of your phone can be accessed via the screen – incoming text messages can also be displayed here. And if you want to make a call, you can dial your contact intuitively and with confidence using the control unit.

This service (free of charge for three years, available in 12 countries) makes it possible to receive up-to-the-minute, accurate traffic information, giving optimised dynamic route guidance and more precisely calculated ETAs. Data transfer is with a communication module via a fast mobile internet connection.

A universal interface in the centre console, including consumer cable, lets you easily connect portable media players such as iPod® or iPhone®. The audio and video contents are thus conveniently controlled and reproduced first-class via the infotainment systems of the vehicle.

The system makes it easy to read additional information such as track title, album name, artist etc. (where available) on the vehicle display.

The Michelin travel and restaurant guide provides extensive information about restaurants, hotels, tourist attractions and routes 36 European countries. By inserting an SD memory card the data can be accessed via COMAND Online and used for navigation.

The search function makes it easy to quickly find points of interest (POIs) in close vicinity or at the destination. Graded ratings symbols help the user to select restaurants, hotels, points of interest and scenic routes. The software also offers additional multimedia information (audio files, images and texts) about the POIs. The contents of the travel guide can be updated free of charge on the Mercedes-Benz portal.

This feature allows the connection of a mobile phone using the Bluetooth® SAP (SIM Access Profile) protocol or direct operation by inserting a SIM card into the integral SIM card reader. Use of the vehicle's external aerial ensures better reception.

The pre-installation lets you upgrade the Audio 20 CD into a complete navigation system with the Becker® MAP PILOT at a later time. Initial startup is carried out by inserting the device into the corresponding cradle in the glove compartment.

With its large glazed areas, this roof system ensures a particularly bright and welcoming ambience in the interior. It consists of a fixed panoramic glass rear section and an electrically operated sliding glass front section for ventilation of the interior as required.

In addition, two electric roller sunblinds provide shade for the passengers from bright sunshine. Numerous practical functions of the panoramic sliding roof ensure a high level of ride comfort. For instance, in the raised position the glass roof automatically adopts one of three levels to adapt to the current vehicle speed.

At high speeds the glass roof descends. Sound levels and air circulation in the vehicle interior are thus reduced. Conversely, the roof is raised at low speeds again. And the panoramic sliding roof also reacts automatically to rain: If it is opened, it automatically goes into the raised position, preventing water ingress into the vehicle interior. When the vehicle is stationary the panoramic sliding sun roof can be opened and closed from the outside, too.

The heated windscreen-washer nozzles and windscreen-washer fluid hoses effectively protect the system from icing up, while ensuring easy cleaning of the windscreen, even at low temperatures.

On-demand controlled cleaning of the headlamps ensures the driver can see and be seen well under all weather conditions. If the ignition and the lights are switched on, once every five times the windscreen-washer system is operated, the headlamp cover glass is automatically cleaned via telescoping high-pressure nozzles.

To this end two telescopic arms integrated in the bumper and equipped with spray nozzles extend and spray warm water at high pressure onto the headlamps. When ignition and light are switched off the automatic function is reset. The next time the ignition is switched on counting starts anew.

The dark-tinted heat-insulating glass used for the rear side windows and the rear windscreen protects the rear-seat passengers against prying eyes and direct sunlight. At the same time the dark tint underscores the sporty character of the vehicle.

The brushed stainless-steel AMG door sill panels set sporty exclusive highlights with their AMG lettering illuminated in white. At the same time, they protect the door area against scratches.

Mercedes-Benz embossed leather has had a tough-wearing dressing and solid colour stain applied. Thanks to this treatment, the leather is particularly easy to care for and robust.

On cold days the seat heating for driver and front passenger quickly provides cosy warmth as desired. The occupants each have a choice between three heating levels at the push of a button.

Three red control lamps in the operating switches indicate the activated level. After about eight minutes the system switches automatically from level 3 to level 2, after about ten minutes from level 2 to level 1.

The heating is switched off automatically from level 1 after about 20 minutes, and when the battery capacity is too low. To manually switch off seat heating, the operating switch is simply pushed repeatedly until all red control lamps go out.

Thanks to active ventilation, on hot days the climatised seats quickly cool down the surface of the seats to a pleasant temperature and create a balanced seat climate. In cold weather the on-demand seat heating provides cosy warmth as required.

Fans integrated in the seat upholstery uniformly distribute a flow of air in three intensity levels under the leather backrest and cushion covers. The air flows through the fine perforation and quickly cools the surface of the seats to a pleasant temperature – even if the vehicle has been heated by an intense amount of sunlight for a longer period of time.

Auxiliary heating can heat or ventilate the vehicle's interior before your journey begins – using a timer, the operating button in the vehicle or by remote control.
