With the optional COMAND APS multimedia system you’ll reach your destination fully relaxed and with no detours. It combines audio settings with a telephone and navigation system. The newly developed control concept makes operating the system – despite a much wider range of functions – far more user-friendly and intuitive than ever before. The pivoting 7-inch display with new graphic elements and new colours is positioned at the same height as the instrument cluster and thus ideally within the driver’s field of vision.
COMAND APS can be controlled either via an input pad in the centre console, using the multifunction steering wheel or via the ergonomically placed controller in front of the armrest. All key functions can now also be accessed using voice control: destination input for the navigation system uses whole words to identify all town and street names; you can simply dial a stored phone number by saying the name, and the system will read out your text messages if you prefer.
The integrated Bluetooth also provides safe hands-free operation using the mobile phone, while the DVD player plays CDs and MP3 files as well as video and audio DVDs. The navigation system hard drive can store up to 1000 MP3 songs – and to access many more, you can also insert a memory card into the PCMCIA slot which is also included.
