The petrol engines for the C-Class Estate promise superb driving pleasure and surprisingly low consumption figures. Compared with their predecessors, some models reduced their fuel consumption by up to 31% using BlueEFFICIENCY technologies – at the same time as improving performance.

4-cylinder petrol engines The C-Class Estate owes its high efficiency to its latest generation 4-cylinder engines with direct petrol injection. A systematic approach to the development objective - increased output yet reduced consumption - was pursued; and thanks to the BlueEFFICIENCY concept, fuel consumption has been reduced significantly over previous models. The following models are available to choose from: C 180, C 200 und C 250: High effectiveness and efficient fuel consumption levels: thanks to an exhaust gas turbocharger and variable valve timing. Fuel is consumed particularly efficiently. Greater output potential than preceding models: a result of homogeneous direct injection and of the increase in compression. Environmentally friendly: Most of the engines comply with consumption and emission standards (Euro 5) while offering higher torque and output at reduced noise levels at the same time. The C 180 even complies with the requirements of the Euro 6 standard. A high level of refinement: two balancer shafts reduce bothersome vibrations. Easy on the environment: The standard ECO start/stop function ensures that the engine is temporarily switched off if the vehicle is stationary, thereby saving fuel. In addition, the ECO display in the instrument cluster provides information about how efficient the driver's driving style is, prompting them to modify their behaviour and thereby reducing fuel consumption.
6-cylinder petrol engine The C-Class Estate is also available with a 3.5 litre V6 engine. This drive unit combines refinement and ecological efficiency with the highest degree of agility and dynamism. It achieves this with - among other things - direct fuel injection and 4-valve technology. At the same time it complies with the Euro 5 emissions class. Refined power - as represented by the V6 engine in the C-ClassC 350 It embodies the perfect combination of smooth running and swift acceleration. For the sake of the environment: In addition to the further-refined combustion process, the standard-fit ECO start/stop function, the ECO display in the instrument cluster, an optimised air intake and exhaust gas system, controlled ancillaries, intelligent alternator management and consistently applied lightweight-design principles all contribute to reducing fuel consumption. Sporty and efficient: The spray-guided direct injection petrol engine has an output of 225 kW, yet uses up to 31 percent less fuel than the comparable 6-cylinder petrol engine of the previous model range. And this despite acceleration times worthy of a sports car: 0 to 100 km/h in 6.1 seconds.. Power at all times: maximum torque across a particularly broad engine speed range, ensuring that exceptional power reserves are available for every handling scenario. Unmistakeable: The 6-cylinder versions are not only particularly economical in terms of fuel consumption – they can also be identified on sight by their sporty twin-pipe exhaust system.
8-cylinder petrol engine The C 63 AMG is powered by an AMG V8 naturally aspirated engine with an output of 336 kilowatts and up to 600 Nm torque. The unit delivers outstanding acceleration figures: in just 4.5 seconds from a standstill to 100 km/h (and the C 63 AMG "Edition 507" special model with an output of 373 kW and torque of up to 610 Nm in 4.3 seconds). The combination: the engine's high displacement and impressive high-speed concept enable it to deliver a performance at motor sports level at all times. Optimised engine management: the requirements of the Euro 5 emissions class can be met in this high output engine version, too.
