Climate change is one of the major challenges of the 21st century. The rising consumption of natural resources is having an increasing impact on our planet. As the inventor of the motor car, Mercedes-Benz has a special responsibility to implement innovative technologies based on developing solutions that help preserve the environment and ensure that raw materials are used as efficiently as possible – without compromising on comfort, safety or driving pleasure.
Our goal is zero-emission mobility. To help us achieve this, we have developed a range of concepts that include BlueEFFICIENCY technologies.
These custom-designed efficiency packages are deployed in four E-Class Coupé models: E 250 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY, E 350 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY, E 250 CGI BlueEFFICIENCY and E 350 CGI BlueEFFICIENCY.
The goal of BlueEFFICIENCY is to reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions – enabling it to meet the future EU5 emissions standard today. Methods used to achieve this goal include intelligent energy management in different vehicle components, optimised combustion engines and tyres optimised for rolling resistance. Fuel consumption and CO2 emissions in the E 250 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY were reduced by up to 13% compared with predecessor models.
