The new E 63 AMG 4MATIC is for the first time equipped with an all-wheel-drive system developed specifically for AMG. The performance-oriented 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system of the E 63 AMG developed by Mercedes-AMG provides a combination of maximum traction and neutral handling typical of AMG. This is the result of a planetary centre differential with a rear-biased torque split of 33:67 and a slight basic locking force. Dependent on the selected ESP® stage, selective brake interventions at individual wheels (torque vectoring) and engine management adjustments counter the initial understeer typical of all-wheel-drive systems. The result is an agile and at the same time comfortable turn-in of the vehicle toward the centre of the curve. The superior power output of 410 kilowatts of the AMG 5.5-litre V8 Biturbo engine proven in the predecessor continues to be at the core of the extensive optimisation measures – even more power at a high degree of efficiency.
