The AMG limited-slip rear differential improves traction, in particular when driving in a sporty manner In case of differences in the rotational speeds of the driven wheels, the torque is sent to the wheel with better traction to reduce slip.

The AMG RIDE CONTROL sports suspension offers a high level of vehicle dynamics or the long-distance comfort the brand is famous for thanks to its adjustable electronic damping system. To this end the front axle is equipped with steel spring struts and the rear axle features AMG-specific air springs.

The steel spring struts in the front ensure sensitive response, while the rear air spring struts keep the ride height of the vehicle constant thanks to the automatic self-levelling feature. An electronically controlled damping system automatically varies the damping characteristics depending on the driving situation and reduces body lean.

The Direct-Steer system adds to the comfort of speed-sensitive power steering with a variable steering ratio dependent on the steering wheel angle. The vehicle's response to the steering angle becomes more agile and steering requirements are reduced.

The STEER CONTROL assistance system can boost safety by providing corrective intervention in the event of oversteering and braking manoeuvres on unequal road surfaces.

The ESP® control unit calculates the additional steering torque required for the respective situation. The electric power assist (EPS) then performs the appropriate steering command. If the vehicle starts to skid, the system can help the driver to countersteer in the right direction with a perceptible pulsation of the steering wheel.

AIRMATIC provides ride comfort and driving dynamics at the highest level. The air suspension system works in combination with a fully automatic damping adjustment which continually adapts to the driving situation and provides excellent road roar and tyre vibration characteristics even when the road is only slightly bumpy.

In addition the vehicle can be raised on poor or unfavourable stretches of road to increase ground clearance. When driving continually at a high speed the vehicle is automatically lowered. This improves handling and reduces wind resistance - an additional contribution to reducing fuel consumption.
