The optionally available new COMAND APS multimedia system with a high-resolution 6 1/2-inch colour display and hard disc navigation not only guides you to your destination with 3-D maps in bird-eye’s view, showing altitude, points of the compass and steering wheel angle, it entertains you as you go, too. It features a navigation system with integral digital radio and CD/DVD player. It also enables you to operate the optional surround sound system, the optional DVD changer and the telephone. A TV tuner for analogue and digital TV reception is available as an option in combination with COMAND APS.

The navigation system works with the Global Positioning System (GPS) and a hard disc on which the European road network is stored. An additional service offered in Germany and some other European countries is dynamic route guidance, which uses traffic information provided by radio stations to guide you around traffic jams/tailbacks where there is an alternative route.

The future has arrived with the multimedia equipment of the new M-Class generation. It stars with the DVD video function. The optional media interface with UCI connection enables you to connect COMAND APS with any USB data source. For example, to play music from your MP3 player.
If you have your favourite music saved on a 4 GB card from MUSIC REGISTER or an SD card, you’ll find the right connection in the M-Class. A Bluetooth hands-free system is available for you to conveniently make calls with your mobile phone.

Radio, navigation device and telephone obey your every word – you can operate them with the LINGUATRONIC voice-operated control system (included in Audio 50 APS with DVD changer and in COMAND APS.

The optional new Harman Kardon® Logic 7® surround sound system provides superb musical enjoyment in your M-Class. With its output, increased to 610 watts it brings excellent sound quality to your M-Class. With twelve high-performance loudspeakers and Dolby® Digital 5.1 technology you have got your very own concert hall, wherever you are sitting. Added to which you have the sort of functions you won’t find at a live concert. For example, you can set the surround reproduction individually – either just in the front, middle or rear sections, or for the entire passenger compartment.
High-tech developments such as the 11-channel DSP amplifiers turn the surround sound system into a veritable highlight and provide an unforgettable feast for your ears inside the vehicle.

The best entertainment for the passengers in the back seats is provided by the rear-seat entertainment system. It is equipped with two 8-inch screens on the head restraints of the front seats and wireless headphones and a remote control along with connections for a DVD player or games console. The optional TV tuner even allows for television viewing in the car.
