AIRMATIC provides ride comfort and driving dynamics at the highest level. The air suspension system works in combination with a fully automatic damping adjustment which can continually adapt to the driving situation and provides excellent road roar and tyre vibration characteristics even when the road is only slightly bumpy.

In addition the vehicle can be raised on poor or unfavourable stretches of road to increase ground clearance. When driving continually at a high speed the vehicle is automatically lowered. This improves handling and reduces wind resistance – an additional contribution to reducing fuel consumption.

The AMG exterior sports package enhances the sporty side of the M-Class and lends the vehicle’s exterior design an even more dynamic and athletic character.

The AMG exterior sports package includes the following elements:

The Anti-theft alarm system (ATA) with tow-away protection and interior monitoring can emit a warning in the event of theft and unauthorised entry, as soon as the system is activated via remote control.

Only with authorisation: The system triggers an alarm if an unauthorised person opens one of the vehicle doors, tailgate or bonnet. The alarm also sounds if the ignition lock is shorted/removed or the foot brake applied.

The Driving Assistance Package Plus makes an active contribution to safety in everyday driving situations. The functions of proximity control, lane-change control and blind spot warning with corrective intervention, together with the brake system optimisation, all contribute decisively to safe travel and a safe arrival.

The Light Package incorporates the Intelligent Light System, which improves visibility in dark conditions by adjusting its bi-xenon headlamps to the current driving situation. Illumination is wider on a country road, for example, and on motorways the range is significantly increased.

The system also features enhanced fog lamps as well as active light and cornering light functions and Adaptive Highbeam Assist. This helps you to detect pedestrians, cyclists or other obstacles at an earlier stage than with conventional low-beam headlamps. The system further optimises road illumination.


Using a camera the headlamp range adjustment and high beams are regulated in such a way that the road is illuminated as best as possible, regardless of the driving situation and the preceding motorists. The high beam automatically switches on when no other road users are detected. A special feature is the gentle transition from one type of light to the other without an abrupt change in intensity.

The memory package makes frequent change of drivers much easier. It stores the individual settings for the driver’s seat, steering wheel and exterior mirrors for up to three people.

As soon as a driver selects a setting with the touch of a button, electric controls automatically set the seat, exterior mirrors and steering column back to the previously saved positions. The package also includes 4-way lumbar support on the driver’s and front-passenger side, exterior mirrors with parking position and automatic positioning of the front-passenger seat in PRE-SAFE® situations.

The ON&OFFROAD package gives the driver greater control over the vehicle’s handling – both on the road and for off-road driving.

Using the transmission mode switch the driver can choose different pre-set transmission modes for various road characteristics. Depending on the transmission mode the characteristics of ESP®, 4ETS, transmission, suspension, engine, steering and also ASR are adapted. 100% differential locks on the centre differential provide traction and performance when they are needed.

On the COMAND display the effects of the transmission modes and the gradient and incline angle are clearly displayed. A robust underguard beneath the engine and reinforced underbody panelling can help reduce damage to the vehicle during tough off-road use.

The Smoker package provides a conveniently positioned ashtray in the front as well as the rear and a cigarette lighter in the vehicle. The cigarette lighter also serves as a 12V socket. The package takes the place of the front stowage compartment.

The exterior mirrors can be folded in and moved back to their original position from within easy reach of the driver. Whether you’re driving through narrow entry ways and exits, parking the car or going through automatic car washes this preventive protection of the mirror casing helps you avoid repair costs.

The exterior and interior mirrors on the driver's side are responsible for better safety and improved comfort: they are automatically anti-dazzle so that a manual adjustment is no longer necessary.

The interior sports package lends the vehicle interior an additional sporty note and improves ride comfort.

The Lane Tracking package assists the driver in arriving safely and stress-free at his destination. It comprises the Lane Keeping Assist and Blind Spot Assist systems.

The Winter package significantly increases the interior comfort for occupants on cold days. In addition the heated windscreen washer system provides more effective cleaning of the windscreen and better protection of the washer nozzles against icing up at low temperatures.

The ACTIVE CURVE SYSTEM, also called roll stabilisation, reduces the vehicle’s roll angle when cornering or driving off road by using its active suspension stabilisers. This enhances ride comfort for the vehicle occupants and boosts driving dynamics off the road, at medium speed (winding rural roads) and also at high speed (motorway).

The Active Parking Assist makes parking your vehicle easier. It automatically steers the M-Class into parking spaces while the driver need only operate the gas pedal and brake.

The Active Parking Assist system automatically begins looking for parking spaces at speeds lower than 36 km/h. If the M-Class slows to under 30 km/h, the Active Parking Assist shows a "P" and an arrow in the instrument cluster display to indicate that it has found a parking space. The space needs only to be 1.2 metres longer than the vehicle – and the search is over.

If the driver changes to reverse gear and confirms the parking selection shown, the Active Parking Assist completes the necessary steering wheel movements on its own. Drivers can however intervene at any point in the process and correct the parking manoeuvres according to their own wishes.

The system can identify the speed limits shown on road signs and display the permitted maximum speed in the instrument cluster. This is particularly useful on long, monotonous stretches of road with changing traffic signs or along routes with road works. Speed Limit Assist also aligns the displayed speed limits with the data stored in the navigation system.

KEYLESS GO is an electronic drive authorisation system. The driver does not need a key to unlock or start the vehicle. The driver need only carry the KEYLESS GO transponder and pull the door handle. Simply pressing the start/stop button starts the car.

Night View Assist Plus improves visibility under dark ambient conditions and if oncoming vehicles cause dazzling.

A camera films the road illuminated by an anti-dazzle infrared headlamp and transmits a grey-scale image to the multifunction display. This helps the driver to more quickly and easily recognize obstacles, poorly lit road users and the road layout when there is oncoming traffic.

The rear-view camera offers convenience and added safety. Integrated in the boot lid, the camera transmits an image of the area behind the vehicle to the COMAND screen. The camera image not only makes parking easier but also aids in manoeuvring on difficult terrain.

With the Becker® MAP PILOT it is possible to upgrade the Audio 20 CD radio, fitted as standard, to a full-function navigation system. The control unit can be secured and connected in the glove compartment in just a couple of simple steps, and can be removed at any time.

Overview of functions and equipment:

The COMAND Online multimedia system is the highlight of the new telematics generation. This innovative system features an Internet browser, combines all audio, telephone and navigation functions and also includes the Speed Limit Assist function. The optimised control concept makes operation more user-friendly and intelligent than ever before.

Component of the new COMAND Online multimedia system:

An additional aerial is used for digital radio (DAB). This provides improved reception at near CD quality, a broader selection of stations, as well as more detailed programme and traffic information.

Switching between analogue and digital reception is automatic according to network coverage and signal strength.

The Rear Seat Entertainment System consists of a DVD player, two 20.3-cm screens built into the front head restraints, two sets of wireless headphones and a remote control. A line-in connection additionally makes it possible to link up a game console. This way the system ensures that the rear compartment passengers will not get bored, no matter how long the journey is.

The optional Harman Kardon® Logic 7® surround sound system with Dolby Digital 5.1 and an output of 830 watts turns every journey into an acoustic experience.

Fourteen high-performance speakers and the Logic 7® multi-channel surround sound technology provide a three-dimensional sound impression. The automatic volume control adapts the sound in line with the car’s current speed.

All you need for convenience telephony is the Mercedes-Benz head unit with screen, a compatible mobile phone and a cradle to connect your phone to the exterior aerial via a fixed interface in the centre console.

The integrated Bluetooth® interface allows wireless interaction with a compatible mobile phone. The functions of your phone can be accessed via the screen. Incoming text messages can also be displayed here. And if you want to make a call, you can select your contact safely and intuitively using the control unit.

The Media Interface with consumer cable kit is a universal interface in the centre armrest used to connect mobile audio/video devices while you’re on the road.

You can also access external storage media such as USB sticks or an iPod® using the vehicle's control and display units.

The TV tuner enables television viewing during driving breaks. The receiver unit processes both analogue and digital signals and is controlled using the COMAND Online multimedia system, whose display is positioned in the driver’s central field of vision and also shows the image.

Sound output is via the vehicle’s speaker system. The receiving aerial is integrated in the rear window. At speeds above approx. 6 km/h, the image is switched off for safety reasons and reappears when the speed falls below this limit.

In the panoramic sliding sunroof with an optimised net wind deflector the large glass windows provide the best visibility and light possible and a more generous spacious feeling in all the seats.

The ambient lighting provides a pleasant indirect lighting effect inside the vehicle at night. Luminous surfaces on the instrument panel, behind the front door sill panels and under the door trim elements create an incomparable atmosphere.

In addition, fibre-optic cables and LEDs which are controlled independently of the background light make it easier to find your way around the vehicle when it’s dark outside. Exclusive ambient lighting, which can be dimmed to any level and has the three colour schemes of "solar" (amber-coloured), "neutral" (white) and "polar" (ice blue), emphasises the interior design to ensure pleasant light conditions for night driving.

The EASY-PACK tailgate enables comfortable access to the luggage compartment. Even if you have more on your hands than you can cope with, the EASY-PACK tailgate guarantees exceptional loading convenience, as it is possible to open or close it at the touch of a finger

The EASY-PACK load compartment cover protects your luggage from the sun and from prying eyes and consists of a roller blind which is colour-coordinated with the interior appointments and located behind the second row of seats.

The THERMOTRONIC automatic climate control system allows the driver and front passenger to adapt the climate in their respective seats to suit their individual requirements.

The system keeps the temperature at the desired level automatically, even in strong sunlight. To this end, sensors register the temperature inside and outside the vehicle, controlling the heating, cooling and fan for each temperature zone individually, according to requirements.

The EASY-PACK load-securing kit secures your load in the luggage compartment against slipping and undesired shifting, for instance in curves. It consists of two rails firmly mounted on the left and right sides of the load compartment floor, to which securing elements for the cargo retention system can be attached.

The telescopic rod included in this package allows you to customise boot space or secure bulky objects. Round objects and loads with irregular shapes can be conveniently secured using a tensioning belt.


The four attachment elements included and the four load-securing rings (standard specification) round off the flexible range of securing options.

The climatised seats improve ride comfort and reduce transpiration with a pleasant air flow and the selectable seat heating. Integrated in the seat upholstery are fans which uniformly distribute a flow of air in three intensity levels under the leather cover of the backrest and cushions. The air flows through the fine perforation and quickly cools down the surface of the seats to a pleasant temperature – even if the vehicle has been heated by an intense amount of sunlight for a longer period of time.

On cold days you can turn on the three-level adjustable seat heating.
