A sophisticated computer simulation has enabled us to create highly ergonomic interiors. We employed state-of-the-art 3D technology to simulate the behaviour and movement patterns of vehicle occupants, which enabled us to optimise the configuration of switches and controls.

We all know that people are different. That's why we've processed data on thousands of people who represent a broad spectrum of the population. The data covers factors such as gender, age, body size and sitting posture. This ensures that you and your R-Class are a well-established team. The driver's seat helps you in this regard with the optional 4-way lumbar support (standard with R 500 4MATIC).

In the first and second seat rows you can sit back and relax in Executive Chairs (in the 5-seater version, these are the two outside seats of the second row). These offer an outstanding level of comfort. For the ultimate in seating luxury, you can also choose heated and ventilated front seats. Or the multicontour seats, which are available as an option for the driver and front passenger. These seats are equipped with inflatable air chambers that adjust to your body and provide enhanced support.

If you want improved lateral support - especially when cornering - you can order front sports seats with higher side bolsters on the backrests. Part of the interior sports package, these seats are electrically adjustable and upholstered in Alcantara®/ARTICO man-made leather.

The memory package is another practical optional extra. As well as offering full power adjustment for the front seats, the system can store the positions of the driver’s seat, front-passenger seat, exterior mirrors and steering column for up to three people. The memory package also includes a crash-responsive exit aid, which can move the steering wheel into a position more "favourable" to rescuing occupants after an accident.
