The interior of the new R-Class is not only spacious; it also offers outstanding flexibility. For example, the model is available in three variants, offering up to seven seats and provides even the youngest passengers with excellent travelling comfort and extensive safety features.
The rear passengers in the 5-seater variant of the new R-Class can really sit back and enjoy the 3-seat rear bench seat. The second row comes as standard with two luxury Executive Chairs and a comfortable centre seat. The centre seat can be folded down if necessary to become a practical and convenient centre armrest.
The new R-Class offers the optional extra of three seat rows, in which case there is no stowage compartment in the boot floor. As a 4+2-seater, it also features comfortable individual seats with armrests in the second row, which are just as luxurious as the front seats thanks to their width and plush upholstery. A further option for the 4+2-seater is a rear centre console with two cup holders and numerous stowage options.
The new R-Class is also available as a 5+2-seater. In this version, the R-Class is equipped with air suspension and a level control system on the rear axle.
The new R-Class also scores heavily as a family car. Junior family members will benefit from the extraordinarily generous interior space, with room for up to three child seats in the second seat row. The two outside seats are fitted with ISOFIX child-seat anchorage points, which enable the seats to be anchored directly to the vehicle chassis. Even when installing a child seat on the front-passenger seat, the highest level of safety is provided: the optional child-seat recognition system automatically deactivates the front-passenger airbag as soon as it detects a child seat on the front-passenger seat. All you need is a special child seat equipped with a transponder (available from the Mercedes-Benz accessories range). As you see, not even a large family will stretch the R-Class to its limits.
