A roof over your head – and yet you still have the feeling that above you is only sky. The R-Class is also available with an optional sliding sunroof or expansive panorama sliding sunroof.

Boasting an area of 1.2 square metres, this is around twice the size of a conventional sliding sunroof. Its large glass panels ensure excellent visibility and light conditions – not to mention a feeling of even greater spaciousness for passengers in all seats. And, thanks to different roof-opening settings, it is even possible to supply fresh air to individual sections in the interior. The R-Class roof systems are also equipped with an obstruction sensor and can be set to a "summer position" or closed using your electronic ignition key. Sun-block protection is provided by roller blinds (colour-coordinated with interior appointments) and heat-insulating glass.

When the roof is open, a wind deflector is raised automatically. It descends again by up to 12 millimetres when the car is in motion. This ensures that wind noise is reduced.
