Driving enjoyment and comfort take centre stage in the E-Class Cabriolet. So that you can stay relaxed even on long journeys or during difficult driving manoeuvres, there are assistance systems to support you.
The optional DISTRONIC PLUS[1] proximity control uses short-range and long-range sensors to maintain the desired safe distance to the vehicle in front. The system operates at speeds of between 0 and 200 km/h and is also helpful in city traffic or stop-and-go traffic as the sensors can work at a range of between 0.2 and 200 metres.
If the system detects typical signs of dangerous micro-sleep, the standard ATTENTION ASSIST system suggests taking a break. It monitors the driver’s behaviour – primarily using a steering angle sensor on the steering column - at speeds between 80 and 180 km/h. If the profile deviates from the previous measured profile, visual and audible warnings can be issued.
When parking or looking for a parking space, the driver can call on the assistance of the optional PARKTRONIC system incl. Parking Guidance and parking space measurement. If driving slowly, data from ultrasound sensors is used to calculate the length of a parking space. The driver receives visual and audible signals to indicate the required steering angle and points at which to turn.
The optional rear-view camera enhances your field of vision when parking and reversing. The area around the rear of the vehicle is shown on the COMAND display (rear-view camera available only in conjunction with COMAND APS multimedia system).
You will find information on further assistance systems in the Safety area.
