Vito - Van of the Year 2005

Mercedes-Benz Vito voted Van of the Year

These are just a few of the reasons why 18 international commercial vehicle specialists selected the Vito as the "Van of the Year 2005". In its verdict, the jury also praised the van’s exceptional design as well as its outstanding drive and comfort characteristics. The Vito is therefore the perfect van to meet the wide variety of challenges of your daily working life.

The jury, which was made up of trade journalists from a number of different countries, particularly lauded the van's appealing design and the fact that its handling and ride comfort came close to passenger-car levels.

At the same time, the jury noted that the Vito uncompromisingly met all the requirements made of a van. Also appreciated was the fact that the variety of models had been considerably extended compared with the predecessor, with a choice of three different body lengths, two roof heights and engines with outputs ranging from 65 kW to 218 kW. This allowed virtually any customer to find the vehicle which exactly matched his or her specific user profile, said Peter Wiemann, chairman of the "International Van of the Year jury", at the award ceremony during the International Commercial Vehicle Show (IAA) in Hanover. Moreover, the chairman continued, the Vito was backed by one of the best service organisations.

The first-generation Mercedes-Benz Vito also won the coveted "Van of the Year" annual prize when it was launched in 1996. The second generation of this successful van was first presented last year and enjoys great popularity, not least due to its variety of different models. In the first half of 2004 more units of the Vito and its closely related stablemate, the Viano, were sold than in the same period of any of the previous years.
