Enjoy your drive thanks to agility and low fuel consumption

The petrol engines for the C-Class Saloon promise supreme driving enjoyment with surprisingly low consumption figures. Compared with their predecessors, a few models had their fuel consumption reduced by up to 20 percent using BlueEFFICIENCY technologies – while also improving performance.

4-cylinder petrol engines The C-Class Saloon is very efficient thanks to its new-generation 4-cylinder engines with petrol direct injection. A systematic approach to the development objective - increased output yet reduced consumption - was pursued; and thanks to the BlueEFFICIENCY concept, fuel consumption has been reduced significantly over previous models. The following models are available to choose from: C 180 BlueEFFICIENCY, C 200 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY and C 250 CDI 4MATIC BlueEFFICIENCY. High effectiveness and efficient fuel consumption levels: thanks to an exhaust gas turbocharger and variable valve timing. Fuel is consumed particularly efficiently. Greater output potential than preceding models: a result of homogeneous direct injection and of the increase in compression. Environmentally compatible: The engines comply with the more rigorous consumption and emission standards (Euro 5) while offering at the same time top torque, output and noise levels. A high level of refinement: two balancer shafts reduce bothersome vibrations. In addition the C 180 BlueEFFICIENCY and C 200 BlueEFFICIENCY in conjunction with manual transmission, as well as all petrol-engine models fitted with 7G-TRONIC PLUS automatic transmission (except the 4MATIC model), come equipped as standard with the ECO start/stop function. It reduces fuel consumption and vehicle emissions by switching off the engine when the vehicle is at a standstill or coasting to a stop.
6-cylinder petrol engines The C-Class Saloon is also available with a 3.5 litre V6 engine. This drive unit combines refinement and ecological efficiency with the highest degree of agility and dynamism. It achieves this with - among other things - direct fuel injection and 4-valve technology. At the same time it complies with the requirements of the Euro 5 emissions class. Refined power – from the V6 engine in the C-Class Saloon: C 350 BlueEFFICIENCY and C 350 4MATIC BlueEFFICIENCY. It embodies the perfect combination of smooth running and swift acceleration. For the environment: a reduction in fuel consumption is assisted by a further-developed combustion process, the standard-fit ECO start/stop function, a completely new air and exhaust gas system, regulated auxiliary components, intelligent alternator management and consistent implementation of lightweight construction principles. Sporty and efficient: The spray-guided direct injection petrol engine has an output of 225 kW, yet uses more than 15 percent less fuel than the comparable 6-cylinder petrol engine of the previous model (indeed, the C 350 4MATIC BlueEFFICIENCY uses more than 20 percent less fuel). And this despite acceleration times worthy of a sports car: 0 to 100 km/h in 6.0 seconds. Power at all times: maximum torque across a particularly broad engine speed range, ensuring that exceptional power reserves are available for every handling scenario. Unmistakeable: The 6-cylinder versions are not only particularly economical in terms of fuel consumption – they can also be identified on sight by their sporty twin-pipe exhaust system.
8-cylinder petrol engine The C 63 AMG is powered by an AMG V8 naturally aspirated engine with an output of 336 kW and up to 600 Nm torque. The unit delivers outstanding acceleration figures: in just 4.4 seconds from a standstill to 100 km/h (and with the optional Performance package 4.3 seconds). The combination: the engine's high displacement and impressive high-speed concept enable it to deliver a performance at motor sports level at all times. Optimised engine management: the requirements of the Euro 5 emissions class can be met in this high output engine version, too.
