Multimedia functions are included as standard in the new CLS Shooting Brake. They can be operated via an easy-to-use Controller located on the centre console. Alternatively you can use the buttons on the devices themselves or the multifunction steering wheel.

The enhanced Media Interface, including consumer cable kit, provides a solution for connecting portable media players in the centre console which cannot be connected via the standard USB mass storage device. This includes the Apple iPod® and iPhone® as well as media players using Media Transfer Protocol (MTP) such as Creative, Philips, Sandisk, Samsung or Sony. The system makes it easy to read additional information such as track title, album, performing artist, etc. (where available) on the vehicle’s main display. The COMAND Online multimedia system (optionally with a 6-disc DVD changer) is the highlight of the new telematics generation. It features an internet browser and combines all audio, telephone and navigation functions, apart from which it also includes the Speed Limit Assist function. The optimised operating system makes the controls more user-friendly and intelligent than ever before. Speed Limit Assist uses an integrated camera to identify the speed limits on road signs and show the permitted maximum speed on the central display. The system also compares identified speed limits against the data stored in the navigation system.

The digital ViaMichelin travel guide, which includes the ViaMichelin restaurant guide, is an optional extra with the COMAND Online multimedia system and is available in five languages covering 36 European countries. It gives extensive information on restaurants, hotels, points of interest and tourist routes. The search function makes it easy and quick to locate POIs (points of interest) nearby or at the destination. Grading symbols from the ViaMichelin help the user to select restaurants, hotels, points of interest and tourist routes. The software also provides other multimedia information (audio files, images and texts) on the ViaMichelin POIs. The travel guide contents can be updated free of charge via the Mercedes-Benz portal. | |
The Bluetooth® telephone module with SAP profile is a quick, easy and convenient way to connect any Mercedes-Benz approved mobile phone that can access the Bluetooth® standard SAP (SIM Access profile) with the vehicle. In conjunction with Comfort Telephony, the Bluetooth® telephone module with SAP profile lets you access SIM card contacts from your mobile phone via the multifunction steering wheel. You can also charge your phone using the USB connection. | |
The TV receiver lets you watch television during driving breaks. The receiver unit processes both analogue and digital signals and is controlled using the COMAND Online multimedia system, which is positioned in the driver’s angle of vision and which displays the image. Sound output is via the vehicle's speaker system. The receiving aerial is integrated in the rear window. At speeds above approx. 6 km/h, the image is switched off for safety reasons and reappears when the speed falls below this limit. |
