The Anti-Theft Protection package comprises different systems and equipment which help to protect the vehicle from break-in, theft and being towed away. It includes the anti-theft alarm system (ATA) with tow-away protection and interior monitoring. Once activated by locking the vehicle with the remote key, the system issues a warning signal if it detects an attempted break-in and theft.

The Driving Assistance Package Plus makes an active contribution to safety in everyday driving situations. The proximity control, lane-change control and blind spot warning functions together with the brake system optimisation all contribute decisively to safe travel and a safe arrival.

The Rear Seat Safety package provides additional safety for the rear compartment passengers. In the event of a collision, adaptive belt force limiters and sidebags for the outer seats in the rear can reduce the risk of injury to the occupants by providing optimum support according to the type of impact.

With the memory package the driver’s and front-passenger seats and head restraints, steering column and exterior mirrors can be adjusted electrically to any position. This increases convenience when there is a frequent change of drivers. The individual front seat settings for up to three people can be stored and recalled at any time.

When the driver selects a setting, electric controls automatically adjust the seat, exterior mirror and steering column positions to stored settings.

The 4-way lumbar support provides even more comfort. At the push of a button, the backrest curvature of the front seats can be set to meet individual passenger requirements and provide anatomically ergonomic support for the spine in the lumbar area.

The activation of PRE-SAFE®, also a part of the package, the PRE-SAFE® positioning function can automatically move the passenger seat into a position ("safety position") which is more favourable in the event of a collision.

The Multicontour Seats take pressure off the spine and can be precisely adjusted to the ergonomic characteristics of the driver and front passenger. The pressure can also be adjusted in the variable air cushions of the seat side bolsters, the backrests and curvature of the lumbar area. The controls are located on the side next to the cushions between the seat surface and centre console.

The package also includes the PRE-SAFE® positioning function, which enables preventive protection measures for driver and front passenger. If PRE-SAFE® detects a critical situation, the side bolsters of the backrest are inflated, securing driver and passenger in place sidewards. Lane Keeping Assist can detect a traffic lane based on the road markings and, if the car is about to leave its lane unintentionally, warn the driver by making the steering wheel vibrate gently. If the turn indicator is actuated beforehand or the steering wheel is clearly turned, the system assumes that the lane change is intentional and does not emit a warning.

Blind Spot Assist, meanwhile, uses two radar sensors in the rear bumper to monitor the blind spot at speeds above 30 km/h and can warn the driver against dangerous lane changes if another road user is present in the critical area to the right or left of the vehicle.

The AIRMATIC air suspension system, in combination with the electronically-controlled ADS Adaptive Damping System provides ride comfort and driving dynamics at the highest level.

The air suspension system acts in conjunction with a fully-automatic damping adjustment which adapts continuously to the momentary handling situation, enabling extraordinary ride comfort even over small road bumps. In addition to this, the level regulation included in the package allows the vehicle level to remain constant under all load conditions.

In addition the vehicle can be raised on poor or unfavourable stretches of road to increase ground clearance. When driving continually at a high speed the vehicle is automatically lowered. This improves handling and reduces wind resistance - an additional contribution to reducing fuel consumption.

For drivers who favour a sportier driving style in particular, the AMG rear-axle differential lock boosts traction and prevents the inside drive wheel from slipping by distributing torque to the wheels with better road-holding.

The sports suspension enhances the dynamic appearance of the vehicle, while the tauter suspension and damper settings make an even sportier driving style possible without major loss of ride comfort.

The Active Parking Assist helps the driver to find a parking space and to park. Thanks to its ultrasonic sensors the system can detect whether a parallel parking space is large enough for the vehicle.

The driver starts the parking procedure by steering the vehicle towards the space indicated, engaging reverse gear and confirming the dialogue in the instrument cluster. The Active Parking Assist system then takes over parking in the chosen parking space using steering motors (at a vehicle speed of up to 10 km/h). The driver only needs to work the accelerator and brake pedals.

The automatic child seat recognition can recognise special transponders in the special child seat models from the Mercedes-Benz accessories range and automatically deactivates the front-passenger airbag. An indicator lamp lights up to confirm that the airbag has been deactivated. The belt tensioner and all other airbags on the front-passenger side – such as the sidebag, pelvisbag or windowbag – remain active in order to protect the child. The front-passenger airbag is reactivated automatically after the child seat has been removed.

Should you get a flat tyre, the damaged wheel can be changed simply and quickly using the collapsible spare tyre, tyre-change tool kit and electric air pump. The collapsible tyre has run-flat capabilities only and is designed to cover a maximum distance of 80 km and operate at a maximum speed of 80 km/h.

With the help of the camera integrated in the windscreen, the Speed Limit Assist system can recognise traffic signs and display in the central display the speed limits they announce.

This can reduce the danger of overlooking a speed limit, particularly on stretches of road with frequently changing traffic signs or along routes with road works. In order to verify the data retrieved via optical sensors and the subsequent display, the system compares the values registered with the digital road maps of the navigation system.

The dynamic LED High Performance headlamps in conjunction with an LED daytime running lamp strip in the bumper cover are innovative aspects of the vehicle light array. The novel, unmistakable design of the LED high performance headlamps underscores the dynamism of the vehicle design, lending the front a particularly high value appeal.

Used by Mercedes-Benz for the first time in the CLS, LED technology combines maximum beam output with a long service life and minimum energy consumption. Delivering a colour temperature of 5500 K, the LED high-performance headlamps are closer to the temperature of daylight than their bi-xenon counterparts and are very pleasant on the eyes. When driving at night, the "C" form of the LED position lamps makes the headlamps easily recognisable.

An active component of the safety concept, the Intelligent Light System ensures the best possible visibility in all weather conditions and diverse traffic scenarios. When encountering oncoming traffic, negotiating bends, fog or simply driving on open stretches of road, the system adapts by adjusting the light characteristics accordingly.<br />

A striking appearance, improved visibility of the vehicle, a long useful life and frugal use of energy: thanks to their great brightness the LED daytime running lamps can be seen from far by day, too, and lend the vehicle its unique exterior appearance.

The system is integrated in the lower part of the bumper. The LED technology used requires far less energy than the low-beam headlamps. In conjunction with the standard bi-xenon headlamps, the LED daytime running lamps are automatically dimmed when the bi-xenon headlamps are switched on.

Night View Assist PLUS improves visibility in the dark without making use of the main-beam headlamps. It also helps the driver's orientation, makes possible an earlier detection of persons and obstacles, and improves spatial orientation when driving on unknown roads.

A camera scans the road illuminated by an anti-dazzle infrared headlamp and transmits a grey-scale image to the COMAND display. This helps the driver to recognise obstacles, poorly lit road users and the course of badly lit roads faster and more easily.

In addition, pedestrians identified by the system can be highlighted and seen more clearly thanks to the pedestrian recognition function.

The tyre pressure monitor is an effective means of boosting driving safety. The tyre pressure is permanently monitored using sensors at all four wheels. Individual wheel data is sent remotely via an aerial in each wheel arch and forwarded to a central control unit before being made available in the cockpit's multifunction display.

This is a so-called "self-supporting tyre", commonly known as a "run-flat" tyre. Its sidewall includes special rubber reinforcements which lend it the stiffness required to support the vehicle’s weight in the event of the tyre becoming deflated.

These tyres fit the Mercedes-Benz wheels and their accessories of corresponding size. They make it possible to remove oneself from a dangerous situation (tunnel, bridge, etc.) and drive to the nearest workshop without having to change the tyre oneself.

The reversing camera offers convenience and added safety. Integrated in the boot lid, the camera transmits an image of the area behind the vehicle to the COMAND display. The camera image not only makes parking easier but also aids in manoeuvring on terrain with visibility limitations.

The listening pleasure from the Bang & Olufsen BeoSound AMG high-end surround system is equally possible on long journeys, without tiring the listener. The enhanced Media Interface, including consumer cable kit, provides a solution for connecting portable media players in the centre console which cannot be connected via the standard USB mass storage device.

This includes the Apple iPod® and iPhone® as well as media players using Media Transfer Protocol (MTP) such as Creative, Philips, Sandisk, Samsung or Sony. The system makes it easy to read additional information such as track title, album, performing artist, etc. (where available) on the vehicle’s main display. The digital ViaMichelin travel guide, which includes the ViaMichelin restaurant guide, is an optional extra with the COMAND Online multimedia system and is available in five languages covering 36 European countries. It gives extensive information on restaurants, hotels, points of interest and tourist routes.

The search function makes it easy and quick to locate POIs (points of interest) nearby or at the destination. Grading symbols from the ViaMichelin help the user to select restaurants, hotels, points of interest and tourist routes. The software also provides other multimedia information (audio files, images and texts) on the ViaMichelin POIs. The travel guide contents can be updated free of charge via the Mercedes-Benz portal.

The Bluetooth® telephone module with SAP profile is a quick, easy and convenient way to connect any Mercedes-Benz approved mobile phone that can access the Bluetooth® standard SAP (SIM Access profile) with the vehicle.

In conjunction with Comfort Telephony, the Bluetooth® telephone module with SAP profile lets you access SIM card contacts from your mobile phone via the multifunction steering wheel. You can also charge your phone using the USB connection.

The TV receiver lets you watch television during driving breaks. The receiver unit processes both analogue and digital signals and is controlled using the COMAND Online multimedia system, which is positioned in the driver’s angle of vision and which displays the image.

Sound output is via the vehicle's speaker system. The receiving aerial is integrated in the rear window. At speeds above approx. 6 km/h, the image is switched off for safety reasons and reappears when the speed falls below this limit.

The device reduces the need for any additional visits to the workshop and registration formalities. A folding mechanism permits the ball coupling to be folded away in a space-saving manner behind the rear bumper. The folding mechanism is unlatched from inside the load compartment .

In conjunction with the COMAND Online and reversing camera options, a special camera definition and an additional guide line are available which make it easier for the driver to hitch up a trailer without any assistance from others.

The heated windscreen washer system features heated washer fluid reservoir, washer nozzles and hoses, which means that they are better protected against icing up. This allows the windscreen to be cleaned more effectively at low temperatures.

The ambient lighting provides a pleasant indirect lighting effect inside the vehicle both at night and during the day, too.Luminous surfaces on the instrument panel and under the door trim elements create an incomparable atmosphere.

In addition, fibre-optic cables and LEDs which are controlled independently of the background light make it easier to find your way around the vehicle when it's dark outside. Exclusive ambient lighting, which can be dimmed to any level and has the three colour schemes of "solar" (amber-coloured), "neutral" (white) and "polar" (ice blue), emphasises the interior design to ensure pleasant light conditions for night driving.

The four designer aluminium rails on the load compartment floor enhance the perceived value of the load compartment and with their rubber inlays ensure slip protection for loads during transport.

This equipment enhances the load compartment visually and at the same time increases slip-resistance thanks to the hard non-slip rubber lamellar inserts. The designo load compartment floor in open-pore American cherry wood is a classic among fine woods, contrasting with the inlays in dark fumed-oak and the designer aluminium rails.

Among its chracteristics can be counted its great suppleness and flexibility as well as its high density and fine texture. The customer is supplied with a special wood-care oil for the correct care of the wooden load compartment floor.

The garage door opener integrated in the rear-view mirror makes it possible to operate the garage door and other receiver units directly from the car without requiring a separate remote control. It is programmed using the hand unit of an existing garage door opener system. After this the garage door opening system can be controlled via the control panel.

This steering wheel underscores the elegance of the vehicle interior in a special way.It lends exclusivity to the interior through its high-class appeal and the quality of its craftsmanship. With its two button panels, the multifunction steering wheel enables telematics control for audio and telephone.

KEYLESS GO is an electronic drive authorisation system. The driver does not need a key to unlock or start the vehicle. The driver need only carry the KEYLESS GO transponder and pull the door handle. Simply pressing the start/stop button while the brake pedal is depressed starts the car.

The THERMOTRONIC automatic climate control system allows the driver and passenger to adapt the climate in their respective seats to suit their individual requirements – independently of each other. The system keeps the temperature at the desired level automatically, even in strong sunlight. To this end, sensors register the temperature inside and outside the vehicle, controlling the heating, cooling and fan for each temperature zone individually, according to requirements.

To increase occupant safety, a load-securing net can be attached behind the second seat row as a load compartment partition.

The EASY-PACK load-compartment management system FIXKIT consists of the EASY-PACK loading rails and the EASY-PACK load sill guard. These features ensure secure loads and enhance protection when loading and unloading.

The telescopic bar and cargo rails can divide the load compartment into variable zones. Bulky objects can be secured to the sides of the luggage compartment using the retractable load-restraining belt.

The EASY-PACK intelligent load-compartment management system FIXKIT ensures that everything stays secure in the load compartment. When loading and unloading the load compartment, the EASY-PACK rear sill protector included in this package can be placed over the bumper to protect the loading area from scratches and other damage.<br />

The multifunction steering wheel features a steering wheel heating system that heats it to 35 ºC, gearshift paddles to manually operate the transmission's gears and 12 function buttons for operating the display menus in the instrument cluster, and for controlling the radio volume.

The steering wheel heating is switched on with a rotary switch on the multifunction steering wheel. A heat mat inside the multifunction steering wheel heats up the steering wheel rim to a temperature of 37 ºC, and then goes into control mode. The temperature then oscillates between 34 ºC and 38 ºC. If the steering wheel heating is no longer needed, it can be actively switched off.

The electric front seat heating heats cold seats immediately, even before the car's heating system makes itself felt, enhancing the occupants' comfort on cold days and enabling the separate heating of each front seat to three different heating levels.

The push-button switch control for each seat can be set to normal or rapid heating. In the rapid heating setting, the system automatically changes to "normal" mode after approx. 5 minutes. The seat heating is automatically switched off completely after around 30 minutes. It can be also be switched off earlier than this manuallySeat heating is also switched off automatically if the battery charge is too low.

The electric seat heating in the rear allows for multi-level individual heating of the outer rear seats. The rocker switch or pushbutton control for each seat can be set to normal or rapid heating.

In the rapid heating setting, the system automatically changes to "normal" mode after approx. 5 minutes. The seat heating is automatically switched off completely after around 30 minutes.It can be also be switched off earlier than this manually. Seat heating is also switched off automatically if the battery charge is too low.

The climatised seats improve ride comfort and reduce transpiration thanks to a pleasant air flow and selectable seat heating. Fans integrated in the seat upholstery uniformly distribute a flow of air in three intensity levels under the leather backrest and cushion covers.

The air flows through the fine perforation and quickly cools down the surface of the seats to a pleasant temperature – even if the vehicle has been heated by an intense amount of sunlight for a longer period of time. On cold days you can use the three-level adjustable seat heating.

Even on frosty days the auxiliary heater provides pleasant temperatures and removes ice from the windows even before your journey begins. The heater has an output of five kilowatts and functions independently of the engine. It can be activated with a switch in the vehicle, by remote control from a distance of up to 300 metres or using a timer function.
