Sport mode also adjusts the firmness of the damping system and boosts accelerator response, so that engine response feels more direct.

The new C-Class Coupé is fun. That’s mainly due to the transmissions, which are tailored to different engines. They provide optimum pulling power in every engine speed range and every driving situation.

The 7G-TRONIC PLUS automatic transmission is the highlight of Mercedes-Benz transmission technology (standard for C 250 BlueEFFICIENCY and C 350 BlueEFFICIENCY; optional for other models). It helps drivers whenever they want to accelerate powerfully or experience the full spectrum of the new C-Class Coupé’s agility. That means individual gears can be skipped over when overtaking or in situations requiring spontaneous acceleration.

Seven forward gears ensure optimum engine speed and deliver virtually imperceptible gear changes. Thanks to its multiple downshift capability, the 7G-TRONIC PLUS can skip individual gears when changing down to allow rapid gearshifting and even more dynamism.

In addition the driving programmes of "C" (comfort) and "S" (sport) can be selected at the push of a button. In conjunction with the AMG sports package and the Dynamic Handling package with sports driving mode (option) there is an additional driving mode, "M", for manual shifting using the steering wheel gearshift paddles.
